Anybody else ever have a radiator leak with their A3?

While on a driving vacation in the Canadian Rockies, my coolant warning (big flashing thermometer symbol in the central display) came on when the expansion tank level dropped. The temperature gauge never moved from dead center since the coolant never dropped that far, and I was thankful for the early warning. I topped off the tank, but it was low again the next day with a noticeable drip when the car was warmed up.

Good news - the initial warning came on at the END of a 400-mile day driving the up and down the (nearly deserted withfew services) Icefields Parkway, so I was able to get it topped off pretty quickly anddidn't need to drive much the next day. Glenmore Audi in Calgary, 60 miles away, did a fine job replacing the radiator under warranty in two days. They flew in the replacement radiator and arranged a rental car for me, so our tenth anniversary vacation was essentially undisturbed. We were glad the leak showed up early in the week and when we could get to a dealerso there were parts, time, and expertise for the repair.

Interestingly, I only needed to top off the expansion tank once at the beginning of the drive to Calgary. Kept expecting to see the warning again (and I had extra coolant by then), but maybe the low load going downhill most of the way helped.

The mechanic said that the radiator didn't look externally damaged, and there was nothing during our drive that would have caused damage. Seems like that would be very hard to do regardless, given the radiator's position sandwiched between fans/shrouds and the A/C condenser and intercooler. Unfortunately, I never learned where on the radiator the actual leak point was.
