Wow, we don't get that kind of scenery here in Houston. I'm jealous!
My only gripe with arkel is that their bags aren't water proof without separate covers.
Sometimes if I'm feeling "hip", I'll ride the single speed to work and take my Chrome messenger bag. I love that bag. Have ridden in torrential downpours and everything stays bone dry without any extra covers.
If I take the rivendell, i always have a plastic garbage bag at the bottom of my arkel in case it looks like rain. I throw my clothes in the garbage bag, then that into the arkel rather than covering the arkel. It works fine.
Other than that they are very well thought out bags... my favorite.
