Yes! The Focus ST is sweet as fiz-nuck! But guess what? It's built on a Volvo platform with the Volvo 5 cyl turbo!

In a way, you just pwnd yourself. (Ford sucks, except in Europe. Volvo sucks. European Ford = Volvo)

I was looking at this before I got my A3, but this was back in the beginning of the year and I didn't want to wait 'til August/September for a new car. I'm glad I ended up with the A3 though.
The more I read, the more I'm seeing even the v. 2.0 as being a let down in price and performance. I had to pull the trigger on a car in this segment after waiting6 months for this market to clarify itself. But it only got murkier (C30, A3, 128i/135i, GTi). In the end, for the options I got for the price I paid, I'm glad the A3 was first to the plate.

Haha yes, but VWs are very respectable.

Ford, not so much. I live in America, where idiots buy Fords. They can make them like crap and still sell them here.
That seems a little too over generalized. We own both an A3 and a Ford Expedition. I've always believed in European cars and American trucks- never had any problems with that 5.4 V8 in the Expedition - and I would like to see the CX90 do that kind of haulin'.
I guess it's just me. I generally live by the guidelines of: "Italian shotguns and bikes. German cars, American Trucks, Latin women and American football. Where else can you get that?"
Just my 1.5 cents (after taxes).

Hmmm.. no doubt that i'd rather DRIVE a vw over a ford but vw isn't exactly the best in quality. I've owned 3 new beetles and the wife now has a passat and as far as our experience has been, they are all built like crap. The 06 passat has had numerous issues, and the beetles all had tons of little niggly problems with trim, switches, etc. And then there's the horrendous vw customer service. This is one reason I chose the A3 over the GTI. I've owned several audi's before and they too have had their share of problems but Audi seems to be the lesser of two evils. Plus their interiors can't be beat, and their german driving dynamics are great as you know.

Isn't the C30 rear-wheel drive? The way living in Colorado for the past year has trained me to think, you might as well compare a bicycle to a microwave as a rear-wheel drive car to an all-wheel drive car.

BTW: Here'sa website for the C30 (probably the best place for information on the car) http://forums.swedespeed.com/zeroforum?id=101
That chassis can be awd, but in the C30, the Mazda3 sister car, and the Focus (euro version) it is front-wheel drive.
