Default ECU Driver Learning

I seem to recall reading somethreads in the pastthat mentioned that the A3 ECU has theability to logic and adjust to it's praimary driver driving patterns. If this is true I guess it's fine if your a robot [:@], I'm sure this was engineered in to achieve optimal MPG.

We are not robots, and most of us most likely purchased the A3 because it's fun to drive, sharp, fuel economy, it's performance, etc.

I don't want my car to fightme whenI'm feeling myoaks, and desire to throddle it in a different pattern than my norm. Does anyone recall/know of a way to reset the ECU to think it has to adjust to a new driving pattern? Is there a VAG-Com procedure one could do? Or maybe I'm nuts and I misunderstood what I was reading.

Just drive the way you want to drive, whenever you want to drive it. It's not going to go into limp mode because you gun it a couple of times (if so, this forum would be full of my-car's-in-the-shop threads).

Not 100% sure, but I believe the learning process pertains more to the DSG's shifting behavior. If if I'm wrong about that, your APR would take care of things. If you're getting any sort of hesitation or power loss that wasn't there before, you might need to get things looked at.

Yes one could best describe the behavior changes to the DSG shifting patterns. I consider this one of those grey topics, that's why I posted the subject matter to hear others thoughts.

BTW, I can verify that if I let my wife the drive car for a long period of time, it responds differently to me when I get it back. It's the only reason I let her behind my wheel, LOL

i think you can disconnect the battery for a couple second.
because every time my dealer did something major to the car.(im assuming they disconnect the battery) my throttle response are different.
its more active, but then it would go back to normal after a couple hr driving it.
soo its kinda useless.

You make a very good point, going through the hassle is probably not worth the trouble.

yea i wish it would stay factory preset.
cause it feels very quick and more responsive.
but im assuming i get less mpg that way.

Yes - disconnect the battery for at least 5 minutes and the ECU will clear and re-learn your driving pattern. This was confirmed by my service guy. I did it - it worked for me.
