There is a rubber boot down where the steering column meets the firewall. That is the best place to come through, IMO.
Cheers!

RE: Custom Installed Radar Detectors...
Not to hijack this thread but for those of us in states where we can have detectors and aren't concerned about it getting stolen...anyone have advice on hard-wiring it into the lighting in your roof or something like that?
I had done this with my cheap(er) Cobra in my '04 Passat. I had it wired to the lights so that it was always-on. Only issue is that when I locked or unlocked the doors the car flashes the interior lights causing a break in that always-on connection and turning the unit on and off. not a big deal, but kind of point defeating.

RE: Custom Installed Radar Detectors...
spencer, try www.audidiy.com - there are a few write-ups on hard wiring a radar detector to a 12v lead that is accessible under the sunroof control panel. I'm not sure if it is a constant or switched 12v though. Most of them are for a Valentine V1, but it will apply to any radar detector.
Otherwise, you could always run the wire under the headliner and down the left A-pillar directly to the fuse box. The rear wiper fuse will work fine and is switched (turns on and off with the ignition).
