Audi A3 with MMI and iPod Integration
Hi everyone,
I've been lurking on the forum since i bought my A3 last November and finally have something to post. After trying to get an answer about the MMI/Ipod integration I called the Audi Customer Advocate and they told me that the kit is not out for the A3 but will be coming out sometime this year. It is apparently a different kit than the one that is included in the A6/A8/Q7.
So the wait continues.

The A3 does not have MMI, however Audi does make an Ipod connection for your car, it is the same connection that is for the A4. If you need the part number let me know and I can get it for you.

The thing I don't like about the Audi solution is that you give up your CD Changer port. Kinda sucks that you cant just pop in a cd if you want to.
I've been looking at the Denison IceLink Gateway 400. Lets you choose between the ipod and changer by flipping a switch.

The A3 does have MMI if you get the nav.
From what I've heard, the iPod integration kit isn't worth 1/4 of it's price. Even the Audi website has disclaimers about how you can't see the song titles, etc...

Several of the same interfaces seen on the "MMI" for other Audis (than the A3) appear on the screen for the A3 with navigation. The same logical control layout and button functionality. The dash displays these functions as well as is controlled by the buttons on steering wheel and voice. Telephone, Radio, Satellite, Navigation, Car Setup....
When you turn the unit on, it even says MMI. They are more similar than you may think...

That is true, but if you notice the previous posts are from 2007, and I don't think the A3 got a decent MMI until 2009 or 2010. Mine is a 2011 and it works fine. I can't see the year on the "Info" for my song, but I don't know if that's the MMI or my iPhone not transferring the info from iTunes.
