Nope.

The problem is that the shaft of the condenser is totally sheered off. You either have some cold air or nothing. If you have some cold air then that isn't the problem with the recall. It may be something else?

Cheers!

well, thats just too bad.

so if I put the gauge at 75/75 for both, no matter the speed or outside temps, the same 'coldness' of air should be coming out, right? I noticed big changes from DC to NY and from 5pm to 10pm, but I would expect it to be the same.

Not true.

The car uses temperature sensors inside the car to monitor the actual temperature inside. The air temperature will vary depending on the amount of sunlight in the cabin and ambient temperatures in various parts of the car. The best test is to put the car on auto, select the lowest possible setting "lo" and check the temperature coming from the dash. It should be in the mid 40's.

Cheers!

Just wanted to add that I'm getting an odd smell when I try the AC now. Coolant leak? Not sure. Car goes in tomorrow for repair.

There is no recall on the A/C like chef said, there are 2 tech bulletins out on the A3's a/c. I have replaced many of the compressors. When the compressor goes the system must me flushed very well and the insert must also be replaced at the bare min with the o rings..

AudiTech: Thanks for the info.

Dealer had my car overnight and found the problem with my A/C. They said it is the compressor, but nothing about it being part of a recall. They needed to order the part, might be another few days. I have no other details right now, but I'll get more info and post it soon.

Hope the fix goes well, my car only has 9,000 miles on it, and a year is up soon. Any one have a suggestion about extended warranties?

Yea, my A/C sucks BIG time. My last 2 cars had ICE COLD A/C (lexus and mazda....), but my 07 a3's A/C sucks the big one.....I really hope they do a recall cause the A/C sucks pretty bad....
