with the stock pipes, your engine and turbo creates a bottleneck affect on your exhaust, not letting enough air out fast enough, so with a downpipe, it helps free up the space going from a 2.5" pipe to a 3" pipe so more space for more air to escape quicker, as for the full turboback, well, the downpipe is half of a full turboback, and the catback is the other half, reading enough threads and articles, i found that most of the performance gains are from the downpipe, and since i don't want my exhaust to be heard from a hundred of yards away, i chose just to upgrade the downpipe and leave my stock catback in.

This is a noob question but what are the benefits of adding a downpipe vs a completely new exhaust?
Here read this from the Milltek FAQ pages: Hiflow Sports Cats

hey nam,

If you think your boost guage is off let me know. Did you guys compare it to a vag com?

I used yuppie's vag and it matched the boost guage pretty well. Anyways, I believe AWE has a life time warranty on the guage so we can always send it out.

yeah, the needle is still pointing 3 below 0 when the engine is off, they haven't vagcomed it,

one wierd thing today, i was on 5th gear at roughly 80mph trying to pass a car can i felt a wierd very slightjerk as if i was either losing traction or loss of boost, i'll try to test it out on the freeway again, but felt as if i lost boost for a few miliseconds, anyone know why that is?
