Only replacing two tires or mis-matching sets is a very dangerous way to try and save a few dollars. Differences in traction alone can de-stabilize the car in an emergency, and in the event of an accident will likely be listed as a contributing factor.
I somewhat agree about the difference in traction issue. And was definetly concerned about handling and other concerning issue's with only getting 2 new tires. But after plenty of research and matching up to the closest of speed rating and closet to the OEM's I can get, I am relying on having the 2 new ContExtreme's in the front for about 1 or 2 months, and keeping the Pirelli P6's (that arent so bad yet), still in the back.
And it's not about me "trying to save a few dollars", its about the few dollars I dont have, to purchase a set of 4 complete tires, and going with what I can for now.
