Default A3 service @ 60,000KM

hi All,
my audi A3, 1.8L 2002 model is due for servicing and its done about 60,000KM. i took it to the local Audi dealer and they said it would cost a woooping $1,200 !!

i just had it serviced by another mechanic (non AUDI Dealer) 6 months ago for $200.00 so can anyone tell me whats involved in servicing ?? i took it to the dealer in order to find out if i should be getting other stuff done which this mechanic doesnt know about.

i know the basic service where oil, filter and plugs get replaced along with possibly brakes, and fluids but i cant see why the dealers would tell me such a high cost !!!

any help would be appreciated,

ta,
Cesar.

Default Maintenance Listing

Check out Edmunds - includes what should be done at the intervals... 1200 sounds like way too much.

You can check out your manual too.

The 2002 A3 is not very common in the States?

The 60k service may include a timing belt change and this may be a large proportion of the quote.

I don't know how important a full audi-dealer service history is on a car in the US (for resale purposes), but since you've already had servicing by a non-audi dealer, then it's going to be cheaper doing it that way again and you won't lose out.
