2008.5 a3
So, I've been lurking for a while now... I just bought a new 2.0t a3
I went to the neuspeed site and they have a 2008 and a 2008.5 listed...
I take it Audi changed the engine in the a3 half way through the year? I wouln't be asking, but I can't find anything on the site here that eludes to that fact... I want to get a new intake, but there's nothing in the intake discussions held by chef that says anything about that and the pictures of the 4cyl engine in the AEM install does not resemble mine.
Anyway, what I'm getting at is I want a new intake, but is there anyone that makes one for the newer A3's?

They changed to the 2.0TSI from the 2.0TFSI
Stolen from another forum to help you understand the difference.

1. FSI (found in 2006 and up to 2008 models) DSG and 6spd Manual
2. TSI (found in late 2008 and up models) DSG and 6spd Manual
The U.S. Spec TSI is NOT the 1.4L Turbo and Supercharged engine that is found in the UK; rather it is second generation, if you will, of the FSI. A 2L 16V direct injection engine - with an IHI Turbo.
Some major differences from the FSI to TSI include:
- chain driven belt
- fuel/engine management
- components in the intake system
- oil filter and oil dipstick relocated
- improved PCV system (proved to be problematic in the FSI)
- compression ratio lowered to 9.6:1
- more balanced cam shafts in the center of the block on both sides
- down pipe
- fuel efficiency (debatable)
- better emissions
- more 02 sensors on exhaust system
Every day, there are more and more mods being introduced for the TSI. Revo, APR, and i think Unitronic all have software/flash capability(as of 9/24 but still engine specific depending on your VIN# and engine). There are no official solutions as far as intakes, full exhausts (cat backs available), turbo kits.
There ARE, however, boost tap kits to make stuff work for our cars that worked on FSI (boost gauges, Forge DV's)

Our 2008 A3 20.T is a "2008.5" model. It has a different engine than the 2008 and earlier cars.
The oil filter is NOT the cartridge style, but a canister style (part # 06J 115 561 B) that I had a very tough time finding at local stores. Note that Amazon.com does not list the correct filter for either the 2008 or 2009. You have to specify the 2010 car to find the right filter. Here's the filter on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Mann-Filter-71...ag=kindsyst-20
Note also that on these cars you do not need to remove any plate from the bottom of the car; the drain plug is right there and the oil filter is removed from above. Drain the oil first (remove the oil fill cap first so it flows quickly). Then after about 10 minutes you can remove the oil filter from above and it will have drained out.
