Im still looking for this if anyone knows where I can get one. I found two on ebay but they are in the UK and the sellers wont ship to the US. It seems they may come from 1996-2000 A6 as well.

I have one unit in working condition, except that one of the relays is shut (about $25 to buy a new one on ROCKAUTO.com for example). I bought whole unit just yesterday but it came out that "stealing" a relay did the trick to mine. I had different symptoms than your problem, sounds like you have a stuck solenoid valve which mandates rebuild or replacement.
I bought the pump for $125, I was told it is from 90k car, it looks pretty decent. I can make a picture of it if you want. Original thread: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothrea...ostid=54787158
The unit is a complete part, including the solenoids (where electrical connector is located) and pump itself. You will have to disconnect hydraulic lines when replacing since I don't think that solenoid part can be separated from the pump itself. Easy job.
This model of ABS is a two part system. ECU (controller) is located inside of car, most likely under rear seat (that's the case with my 1998 A6 Quattro) and has a different part # altogether. I believe that latter models of ABS systems have the ECU inside the unit, like Bosch 5.3. If you need ECU, I also have that (also bought unnecessarily) and would part with it for $70. The second part is the pump you listed in your thread, it is located in engine compartment.
I will part with it for $100 plus shipping, probably about $10 USPS. Otherwise I will wait until mine really goes out
Let me know.
