Default FS or Trade for E30 2 dr. BMW: 1987 Porsche 924S 56K original miles!!

first off, I have only owned this car for about a week and a half now. It drives nice, and is a great car,but the reason I own it isI traded the second owner straight up my heavily modded, turbocharged Ford Escort track car for the 924S, simply because they were worth about the same and it is MUCH easier to sell a 924S then it is to try and sell a modded escort. Below is pieces of his for sale add, and I have gone through and added information that I feel is needed. I have vouches from other boards, and a good reputation online on other forums, and ebay, so dont be afraid to take a look!

As the title says, I would like to trade for a 2 door E30 BMW, since that is what I really want, or cash. I'd like to get 4K, but Im flexible. Im not really interested in trading for anything else other then a nice E30 BMW.

Warning: This ad is long and detailed, I want to let you know the true condition of the car and will not try and mislead you in any way. Thanks!

First, the bad:
Here is a list of the things the car could use. doesn’t necessarily need them:[/b]
-1 or 2 window switches (can get both windows to roll down, but the passenger goes down with the pass switch, but up with the driver switch) they are about $15 on eBay
-2 hood struts. I use a 2x4 right now. again, cheap, like $20 on eBay
-heat is always on right now, has a broken clip on the temp slider
-sunroof doesn't tilt up, but still can be removed, needs new gears installed, I’ve got them and might get them installed this week
-rear brakes squeak
-clock backlight doesn't work. easy fix
-doesn't have a thermostat in it right now, had a new one to put in when I did the waterpump, but it was faulty and I never got around to getting a new one as I needed to drive it...would need to replace before winter
-has new coolant fan switch installed, but I don't think it is working correctly, so if I'm sitting in traffic or such then I just click the AC on and it automatically turns on the fan...so I just use that as a manual switch for the fan

Other than that it runs great, always starts up right away and never has problems driving anywhere. I would trust it to drive to California right now

Here's the long history and such:

I bought the car from the "original" owner. I say this because the car has technically had two owners before me. I say this because a husband bought this car as a Christmas present in 1986 for his wife. Then in 2004 they got divorced and she was given the car. But since the car was in his name the title had to be transferred over to her. This is where it got a little hectic though. The husband was bitter over the divorce and when he signed the title he marked the odometer reading as broken so she would have a harder time selling the car if she needed to. He also would not give her all the maintenance records not in the car. I got his number from the ex-wife and called him up to ask him about the records, but he said he had lost them after the divorce when he moved things and was sorry about losing them. I talked him for a while and he admitted to changing the odometer reading and assured me that what the car read was actual records; he just got bitter during the divorce process. I do have the carfax report but there is just one entry on it for the title change in 2004. It should also show the title change for when I bought it in 2006. I guess they didn't have records back in 1986 when the car was first titled, but it shows that there weren't title changes any other times and that I am the true second owner. Back to the history a little, the car was garage kept until 2004 as the ex-wife didn't have a garage so it was kept outside. This is where its exterior blemishes came from. There is a small dent in the driver’s side fender that was caused by a falling object in the garage. There is also a dent/bend in the passenger fender that was caused as the car was sitting in the driveway. They were moving a boat and a hook hanging from the boat got caught on the fender as it was moving past and proceeded to bend the fender which also caused it to form a small dent. There is also a small door ding in the driver's door along with some rock chips on the front valence. Other than that the paint is in great condition for being 20 yrs old.

It won't hurt anything with the paint chips being exposed as Porsche bodies are galvanized from the factory so they never rust. Therefore this car has absolutely no rust what so ever. The underbody is PERFECT, and even the places where the paint is chipped, it has NO rust.

Now let's move onto the maintenance records. Since I couldn't get ahold of the maintenance records when I bought the car I decided to just go through and do it all myself to be safe. The car ran perfect when I bought it, but I just wanted to be sure. Here is a list of all that I have done in the past year/8,000 miles. All parts are new unless stated otherwise.

-Oil Change every 3,000 miles with Mobil 1 Synthetic and OEM Oil Filter (will do the latest this weekend!)

-Water pump
-Coolant Temp Sensor
-Radiator Flush
-Timing Belt
-Balance Shaft Belt
-Front Engine Seals
-Head Gasket
-Valve Cover/Cam Tower Gasket
-Intake Manifold Gasket
-Exhaust Manifold Gasket
-Air Filter
-Spark Plugs
-Distributor Cap (Lifetime Warranty)
-Rotor
-Brake Rotors
-Axxis Performance Brake Pads
-Clutch Slave Cylinder
-Fuel Filter
-Front Struts/Springs off 1986 944 Turbo (firmer/better handling) (60k miles on struts/spring)
-KYB Rear Shocks
-Passenger Tail Light (replaced cracked/leaking one)
-Sunroof Gears (have not installed yet)
-Bosal Brospeed Stainless Steel Muffler
-Oxygen Sensor
-Bridgestone Potenza Tires in March (<2k miles)

I will include the upgraded stereo that is in the car. It has an Alpine CDA-9825 head unit along with Infinity Reference 6.5's in the back and Infinity Reference 4x6 Plate Components in the front. It sounds great and is crystal clear.

Other things included are:
-Original toolkit
-Original spacesaver spair tire (don't have compressor)
-Sunroof bag
-Car cover
-Owner's Manual
-Original Sales/shipping slip! ($24,000 in 1986)

As far as the interior goes, it is near perfect. There are a few cracks in the dash, but that is very normal for pretty much any Porsche. Seats have no tears and look great. Floor mats are a little faded, but not bad.

The engine runs great and I've never had any issues with it. The only minor thing with it is the balance shaft is slightly out of time, so it shakes a bit at idle. I plan on getting the shaft professionally retimed, along with new belts, since it will be all apart. The transmission shifts great and there are no grinds whatsoever. Only issue is it could use some shifter bushings as the shifter is sloppy. Forward gears are easy to shift into, but reverse can be tricky to find since the bushings are warn, and that is a very common thing with these cars. Engine doesn't smoke or burn any oil, nor does it leak any other fluids (no brake, no coolant, no power steering, nothing).

Car has never been raced/tracked/autocrossed/etc. I planned on getting into autocross with this car, but haven't done it. Car would do great with the new suspension on it. These cars are great on a track and can embarrass many V8 cars in some turns.

Brief Overview:
-1987 Porsche 924S
-57xxx original miles
-All preventive maintenance done
-2.5L Inline 4 Cylinder (gets 30mpg+ on the highway!)
-160 hp
-5 speed manual transmission
-2+2 seating (back seats are worthless, but cheaper insurance)
-Power Windows (both work, but switches are a little wierd, can go into more detail when you look at the car)
-Power Steering/Brakes
-Rear Defrost
-Rear Wiper
-Air Conditioning (works but needs recharge to blow cold air)

Rear/Exhaust (just rewelded the entire thing so it's one piece from the 2-1 collector pipe hooking to the 2piece header....glasspack resonator, no cat,and bosal brospeed muffler all 2.25" )

Passenger fender damage (from boat hook) (also front bumper has been recessed to give a smoother front end look)

Dent on passenger fender caused by the flexing from boat hook that has now caused the paint to chip off...but don't worry, it won't ever rust

Front Valence (will get better pics of the rock/paint chips on it)

20yr old foam hood liner

Engine bay (painted/cleared cam tower and intake manifold with high temp enamel)

For the record (and anyone seriously contemplating buying this car) galvanized metal can and will rust, it is only a matter of time. My 12 year old Audi was galvanized, yet various paint chips on the hood have already showed rusting even after I coat it with wax several times a year. It is definitely not fair to say a 20 year old car will not rust.

For the record, galvanaized metal will NOT rust as long as the zinc coating is not broken. If you break the coating, the galvanizing might as well not be there.
