99.5 A4 Avant 2.8 quattro manual – Lafayette, IN - $4,300
*** PRICE LOWERED TO $4,300 ***
I’m selling my black 99.5 A4 Avant 2.8 quattro with manual transmission. I've owned this car for 2 years and it currently has 116,810 miles. I am the second owner. I was told the car originally lived in Iowa by the dealer whom I purchased it from in Grand Rapids, MI. My purpose for buying this car was to get something that was pretty inexpensive, had an enthusiast following, a strong performance aftermarket, and was a small 5 door. This car fit the bill. However, I greatly underestimated the cost of keeping an Audi in good running condition at this age and upkeep has overshot my budget. So I will change to some other car that is more mainstream with less expensive replacement parts and is easier to work on. The car is in great shape which you can hopefully see by the massive amount of parts I’ve treated it to. We are sending our 3 boys to private school and we need to pinch every penny we can. Below is the list of parts I’ve replaced on it over the last two years:
-Bilstein Sport shocks
-ceramic brake pads all around
-Kumho Ecsta ASX (All-Season Xtreme) performance tires
-2 upper left control arms and 1 upper right control arm
-center drive shaft
-right front driveaxle
-South Bend OFE clutch
-Fidanza lightwreight flywheel
-Airbag computer - used
-oil pan gasket
-NGK platinum spark plugs
-ABS computer repaired from ModuleMaster.com – comes with warranty
-left rear wheel bearing
-left rear and right front ABS sensors
-AC condenser
-Secondary air injection relay
-034 Motorsport street density transmission mounts
-Greedspeed Snub mount
-eBay shortshifter
-JHM Delrin shifter stabilizer bushing
-JHM solid shift linkage upgrade
-94 shore urethane to fill all 3 rear differential mounts
-Rear differential output shaft seal
-Second switchblade key
Car is located in Lafayette, IN. Just took the car on a trip to Georgia and back with no issues. Got the EPA rated 26mpg on the trip. I have taken it on an open track day with my old Nissan car club at Autobahn Country Club in Joilet, IL and it was absolutely a blast. I’d driven FWD cars on other tracks before, but this car is so neutral in comparison and I had more fun than ever. I wish I had more time and money to attend more track days with it, but I feel that investment in my children is more important than occasionally flinging my fat *** around a track once a year. Roller coasters are cheaper and can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Issues:
-The sunroof decided it didn’t want to close one day while working in the garage. I closed it with the manual crank, disconnected the electrical connector for the ceiling control, and haven’t touched it since. I don’t care about sunroofs, so it wasn’t worth my time to look at. It could have been a fluke and you might just plug it back in and find it working. Or it may have died. Like I said, I haven’t cared to investigate.
-There are the normal dings that a 10 year old car has. There is a rust spot on the driver door that’s been there since I got the car (you can spot it in the pics). The front bumper has small holes where the front license plate frame used to mount.
-Had an issue with the secondary air injection relay that kept the fan on after the car was shut off and killed my battery one day. This also cleared my radio code and it was a couple of months before I paid Audi to retrieve it for me. During that time, I manually extracted my CDs from the changer by disassembling it. After reassembly and getting the radio working again, the changer would not function properly. So it just has AM/FM/tape right now.
-I bought seat hardware to fix the slight rocking the front seats have. My wife does not notice this issue, so you may or may not. I have not installed the hardware but will include it with the car.
-I have the fuel pump “mooing” problem. (search for mooing on forums and you’ll come across a few posts) You hear a mooing noise from the rear of the car after running it long enough to get good and warmed up. You can only hear it in a quiet garage. I have learned through forums that this is supposedly the fuel pump on its way out. However, it’s done this nearly the entire 2 years I’ve owned the car, and it hasn’t gotten any worse, so I have not preemptively replaced the fuel pump. It may eventually give up and I planned to wait it out, especially since the forum post I read said it would get worse and worse as time goes on. My mooing unchanged.
I can’t think of anything else at the moment. Everything else is good. The heated seats and mirrors work. AC works. Power seats work fine, etc.
Kelley Blue Book Good condition is $5,485. I’ll ask $4,300 as I would like a quick sell.
