1987 Audi 5000CS w/mods
I have a 1987 audi 5000cs with the stage 2 package from intended acceleration. It has the K26 turbo on it (smaller, so it spools faster) and the ECU is chipped, as well as it has a stiffer wastegate spring.
I have had the car for about 6 months. The quattro system works VERY well. I took it up to the mountains for a little fun in the snow, and i had no problems whatsoever. I never got stuck, and i never had to touch the diff lock.
The car does however have some issues. Mostly all cosmetic. it is a very mechanically sound car. I just had the head done maybe 2000 miles ago; new valve stem seals, reseated valve guides and realigned cam, milled to perfectly flat, so there are no warps in the head or anything.
The cosmetics issues are as follows:
1. Broken rear window. My brother got me a little angry and i was a genius and punched it out. You can pick one up from Absolute German for $75 or i can include the old intercooler that you can trade for a new window
2. Driver door handle broken on outside. You cannot open the car from the drivers door. These handles are about $12 a piece. The passenger side front door is good, but the other 2 (driver side rear, and passenger side rear) are broken. you can still use them to open the doors, but its tricky.
3. The driver side tail light is cracked courtesy of a hit and run during the snow we had. I put some tape over the corner because i got pulled over 4 times for "emitting a white light" from the back end of the car. A new light cover is $35 on ebay.
4. I wouldn't necessarily call this a "issue" but it does make the car look kinda funny. The car is over boosted. it runs at 1.8 bar instead of 1.3 which is stock. So when you run at a higher boost like that, you tend to blow things apart. such as the $200 michelin hose that connects the intercooler to the throttle body. I blew 3 of those hoses. But now there is one on there that i have yet to blow. I leave the hose clamp kinda loose on the throttle body so it will blow off there instead of rupturing the very expensive hose. It can sustain 1.8 bar for about 5 minutes before it will blow the hose off. Also, The intercooler was an issue. I blew the end caps off countless times. So, I got a little creative and used a heater strap and strapped the intercooler. Now there is no way it will blow the caps off. That is the part that looks kinda funny. There is a silver strap around the intercooler.
5. The grill is broken. It will stay on and not come off, but the clips on the top of it broke when my stupid brother pulled off the grill one day. I still have it and will include it with the car.
6. The car is 22 years old. The paint is original. The paint is in decent condition, except on the driver side of the car. When the person hit the car and broke the tail light, they also slid down the side of the car and cracked the paint and dented most of the side.
The exterior of the car is in bad shape. But the interior is better. The interior is black leather. The previous owner put seat covers on the two front seats because the leather was cracked. so there are sheep skin seat covers on the front seats. The carpet is all in good condition, as well as the seats in the back. The interior is free of mold and other such items. The Horn does not work. The wire has been ripped out of the steering wheel.
Also, the ignition lock is broken, so there is a starter button. Through this button, the engine will crank no matter what as long as it has power. However, you still have to have the key to unlock the steering column and turn on everything. The problem with the lock was that it would not turn far enough to engage the starter. So i wired in a starter switch. You will also notice there are 2 switches on the kick panel. One is right next to the starter switch. It turns on the fan for the injectors to keep them cool. My car would not start countless times because the injectors would get too hot, and the fan wasn't turning on due to a bad temp switch. So i wired in a switch so i can manually turn the fan on or off. Also, the other switch is for the fog/driving lights on the front of the car. It has a red LED that turns on when the lights are on.
I will also include the stereo (XO vision XO1900 head unit, stock speakers, and DUAL 1200watt subs w/ Kenwood mono Class D amp), the radar detector (Escort Passport 8500 X50 blue ($400 new)), and the old intercooler for the car, aswell as 4 rims (stock rims). three have rubber, one doesnt. the sidewall bulged on it so i took off the rubber and now just the rim is left. The situation with the rims is complicated. I got the stock rims when i bought the car. The previous owner included them with the car. The rims that are on that ar are off an S6. they are only 15" though. I blew one of those tires, so i put 2 of the stock ones up front. I have the S6 rim without rubber on it, and one that does have rubber on it. All that is needed is another rubber to put on the rims and you're set.
Oh, and the body color is pearl white.
