Can you put up some pics of this supposed 55W kit? Never heard of that before - typically HIDs only draw 35W of power to run the ballasts, and I didn't see any reference to a 55W kit on VVME's website (nor have I ever come across any reference to one in the nearly nine years that I've used aftermarket HIDs). The pic in your original post is no longer there so that's no help. And quoted from VVME's website (in the FAQ section):

______________________

Could I not just purchase a stronger watt halogen bulb to get a brighter light?

XENON H.I.D. lamps are 35 watts while traditional halogen bulbs are 55 watts.

______________________

Sorry but a 55W system is bogus. HIDs don't put out more light from a higher power rating, the way halogen bulbs do (ie, a 100w bulb being brighter than a 55w bulb). The power to run them is the 20-22,000 volt initial ignition, and the steady-state 80-90 volts to keep them lit. This is created by the transformers and other electronics in the ballasts, which only require a 35w power supply from the car's electrical system to put out the juice they need to run the bulbs.

If you have a kit that draws 55w, it's still only putting out the same amount of light as another HID kit (the voltage of the arc produced by the ballast ignites the gas in the bulb, and the 35w draw of the typical ballast is enough). It would simply mean "your" kit, should it actually draw 55w, is simply less efficient than those being sold at VVME and other places. Plus it's $50 more than those other kits freely and easily available on the web.

Sorry but until I see something real about this - a link to specific info on the web, showing the product, why a 55w draw is better or creates more light (or even exists), rather than just a no-longer-available image that could be any kit - I'm gonna blow up your spot and call bullsh*t as someone who is hoping to make a few quick bucks off of somebody on this forum who doesn't know enough about the systems to realize when he's being conned. Put up the proof or get lost and stop trying to BS people on here in the hopes of creating a little middle-man market for yourself to simply resell a kit that's available for far less to anyone who wants one. You likely wouldn't know this since you have only 9 posts here, but HID threads are as common here as the clap in Bangkok - we get about 15 a week, so most people here know where to get their kits and what they should expect to pay. I realize that such knowledge might even make this post unnecessary, as people would most likely bypass it and disregard it, as few people will readily hand over money for a product to a person who is unknown on the forum, when they can get that same product elsewhere for less, and from a known company. But I get really irked when someone comes around and tries to make money off of unsuspecting noobs in a less-than-honest way.

Put up or shut up, basically - and if this is something that is actually real, I happily will eat my shoe and apologize, but I have a very strong conviction that this is pure, unadulterated crap. Get an honest way to make your money.

Here's the thing, copied out of the first ad you linked:

Brightness : 300% brightness upgrade, as taller, wider, farther and allows you to travel more secure.

Deciphering the broken english in that auction shows these HIDs to put out roughly 3 times the output of halogen. Halogen burns at about 750 lumens, and 4300k HIDs put out just over 3200. Let's allow for the math and call it 300% gain (actually that works out to 4x the light but that's OK). That's the same gain that the other kits make, but they do it with 35w power consumption instead of 50-55w, so it sounds like these are less efficient.

It is interesting though - I honestly have never seen any kit advertised at anything other than 35w. "shoe chewed."
