transmission
i have a 2003 allroad 2.7 with 59000 miles, and my transmission needs to be replaced. The dealer asked the audi rep to see what they could do to help. They are willing to discount 60% of 12000, leaving me with still $5600 coming out of my pocket. I'm grateful for the discount, but am still furious that my transmission tanked! Shouldn't an Audi transmission last longer than 60000 miles? Anyone out there have a similar experience? Would appreciate an info, advice, comments.

I feel your pain. I recently join this list to get a better understanding of my Allroad, and what an education it is!
I replaced my transmission at 72,000 miles when my 6-speed started making noise. The options were factory new at 9+ thousand dollars or a factory rebuilt at $5500. I went for the rebuild b/c I just invested in new suspension airbags, half-shafts and tires.
I would suggest having the dealer replace the trans with a factory rebuilt and plan on selling your Audi for something more reliable and reasonably repaired. Or, build a solid relationship with an independent Audi mechanic who knows his way around these cars without having to consult a shop manual every time he opens the hood.

i am in the same boat i drive a 2004 2.7T Allroad ...i love driving this car, but have started to have some serious probs with it - its got 75,000 kms on it ( ~ 45k miles) ... had to replace the torque converter last year ($4000 CDN) and recently have heard a hi pitched whining when decelerating .. the dealer was left scratching their heads, another shop i take it too found the noise coming from the tail housing and a bunch of metal shavings in the tranny fluid ... yikes ! = recomended replacing tranny = i'm selling it ...
