Hi All!
I'm surprised how little participation there is on the forum - I expected Allroad owners to be a lot more passionate in their cars! But anyway, I just traded my '01 A4 sport for an '05 Allroad with 5k miles. With newborn twins, I needed a bigger backseat and cargo area! And although I considered a Cross Country, I just couldn't give up the Audi performance and the smile I always get driving one!

My biggest concern is longevity / trouble-free ownership. I had a few issues with the A4, but nothing was too concerning. Any trouble spots on this engine or chassis I should be alert for? I plan to switch to synthetic immediately, of course. Anything else? I'm not looking for the car to be a screamer, but I do appreciate solid performance. Unfortunately the car came with Tiptronic, so I'll have to adjust to not having the shifting performance I loved in the A4.

Is the best place to track the engine on the S4 / B5 boards? Since this forum seems a little slow, just wondering where else everyone might be...

Thanks!!

Er... shouldn't have said "passionate IN their cars", rather ABOUT their cars. It's a big cargo area, and I suppose there's room for "passion" back there, but it wasn't my point

After 11 months in our new 2005 Allroad 4.2, I am still passionate about this car... (to tall for the other passion!) It far exceeds anything I have owned to date. The car pulls/lunches my 19’ inboard skiboat very well, even on our step gravel ramp. My only gripe is when reaccelerating from a stop, I really need to baby it or suffer from whiplash!

The dealership however has lost a few points by delivering the car to me with a known fault, requiring me to schedule a service appointment and not replacing all the belly pan screw after the warranty work. I have yet to find anyplace that works on a car as if it were their own.
