Bigger Rollers
I started a thread a while ago, but it seems to have faded away. So I'm waking it up!
Do any of you AR owners have great +1 or +2 (or, heaven forfend, +3) wheel/tire combinations to share with us? There's a fairly new crop of AR owners here who are performance-minded, and wouldn't mind having some stiffer & stickier rubber between us and the road.
I like all of the double-spoke Hartmann replicas, as well as most of the RS4 replicas...and the A8 replicas (although they would probably have snow build-up).
As for low-profile rubber that still can handle some dirt, we aren't driving RS4's here, so affordable and reliable, but fun, is what we want.
Putting it all together, if SharpHID comes through with his new exhaust, we put in some APR chips, lower our supensions with VAG and put on some new rubber...I think we could start a new race series at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen!
Or...just be able to steal parking spots more effectively at the Stop & Shop.
Let's go!
Cheers,
john

RE: Bigger Rollers
It's funny you should post this because I'm looking for some new tires too. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm probably going to put them on the OEM 17" twin spokes so the 225/55/17 tire size is what I'll be looking at.
Thanks,
John

RE: Bigger Rollers
I recently got a +1 set-up, but the impending snow / freezing rain threat in my area is keeping them waiting in the garage.. and it's killing me! If you're interested, I'll give you my impressions on the set-up once I've had the chance to test it out. For the record they're August Werke 18" x 8" with Falken FK-452 - 245/45ZR18 tires.
On a slight side note, does anyone know how much the OEM 17" twin spokes actually weigh? My searches haven't been able to turn up any numbers.
Cheers,
Jonathan

RE: Bigger Rollers
incrementalg,
If you're just wanting a quick pic, I've taken one with a wheel just sitting in front of the stocker on the car. Not truly representative, but it gives you some idea:
