Aftermarket Air Suspension

just put the new arnott airsprings on this weekend myself it was really easy with the right tools the pinch bolts came right off with some prep two days prior i kept putting on penetrating spray on them they slid right out. the new bags are of much better build than the audi bags they are noticeably heavier and well built the bags work great so far. also if you plan to go with the arnott bags if you install them yourself make sure to get the small brass ring behind the screw fitting where the air lines go in on the new bag. (simply screw out the fitting on the new bag and look in the hole it is a small 3mm brass ring) dont lose it if you have butter fingers then do everything in a white garbage bag and if it falls out then it will be somewhere in the bag.

sounds like a pretty good deal to me for the bags. someone said they are a heavier bag? does this mean that if you drive around in level 1 that theoretically, they shouldnt wear out faster as i have heard that OEM bags will wear out quicker in level 1 due to wear from dirt and **** on the bell when the bag deflates? and either way, lifetime warranty huh? no strings attached, sounds sick. F audi's OEM bags then, only thing they may be good for is covering our heads when they decide to give it to us up the a$$ with their costs.

it took about a week to get them (I bought them on ebay from arnott they are running a special free shipping 299 a bag) the ride and height are the same, i did not replace the shocks they were rebounding just fine, even if I needed to it wouldnt be very hard to replace it yourself as long as you can get the pinch bolt off you should be fine.(the write up was very helpful for diy by the way).
As for the thickness of the bag, like i said i ordered a stock bag then saw the arnott bag for 299 and sent the oem bag back to audi so i have seen both and to me the arnott bag was not as flimsy as the oem bag, the arnott assembly is also noticeably heavier than the oem assembly. and i believe it is aircraft grade aluminum (it looks real nice and professional).
As for the ride I drove it with one new bag and one old bag on and I was pretty enthusiastic in the turns and even got to do some off-roading and I really couldnt tell a difference in the ride to me It drove like an allroad should and thats fine by me.
As for the shocks partsgeek had bilstein heavy duty or sport shocks for 115 really thats the cheapest ive seen for a name brand shock you may find a better one cheaper but i personally wont go oem if i can help it audi just doesnt back anything up with a warranty which means my business will go elswhere. hope this helps

Hi All,
3 months ago faced the problem with both front bags. They started leaking badly. AUDI stealership asked arm and leg for replacement. Instead of air blooder transplant operation I came up with $10 clyster solution that works as magic so far. I bought the tire sealant SLIME and put it through the air holes into the bags while car was on jack, approximately 100 ml in each. I did consider the risk of this crap geting into the air pump or valves, but so far so good. Now I am glad to hear that there is aftermarket parts, great news!
