runnin' on 3 er...4?
alright, here's the deal, for the last couple of months my car has been having problems accelerating. It would be fine until about 4000 rpm's then it would viloently lunge forward as if the motor was taking a crap...below 4000 it would be ok...
however, the last couple of days it's been running EXTREMELY rough as in it was running on four cylinders instead of five. now the only way to get the car up to speed it to "milk it" up to speed by pushing down my gas less than an inch...anymore than that and the car starts jerking.
I'm pretty sure I covered all the obvious problems that would go with this. I just put in new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, feul filter, air filter...I've also checked for vacum leaks and there aren't any that are aparent. I also ran a compression check witch came back 130 psi on four cylinders and 115 on the fifth witch the people from blaufernugen tell me is just fine...
any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm realy running out of ideas...my car is an '87 5000 cs turbo q with aproximately 126,000 miles...
thanks guys
p.s. I tried adjusting the feul mixture on the feul distributor but that only seemed to make it worse so I put it back where it started.

Sounds like fuel starvation! Could be your fuel pump is crapping out or the micro filters in the fuel system are getting clogged. I hear that it does happen on the 5000 models. Checkout sjmautotechnik.com, I think that he covers this problem in more detail.

thanks guys,
offramp, could you please tell me where on that website it talks about fuel starvation, I can't seem to find it ?
and another thing, the car runs fairly well when its cold, but as soon as the heat starts blowing the problem begins, don't know if that'll help at all I just thought I'd throw it out there.

I remember reading about the micro filter/screen found inside the banjo bolts and some of the fuel injection components but can't remember where. I even recall that there was a service bulletin for this problem.
