Timing Belt
Hi
Yesterday, I dropped off my car: 2002, Audi, A4 3.0 Quattro at an Audi dealership for a timing belt replacement for $1400. The dealership just called me, advised that my car needs to replace the following items for addtional $400 ( Camshaft Field, valve cover gasket). I want to know are these items usually included with the timing belt replacement or it is something I need to pay more, it is usually cost this much to replace these 2 items because it seem like one thing after another.
Thanks,
Bi

I got a price from my local audi/vw/porsche dealer for $1450.00 that include the replacement of a waterpump ,valve cover gaskets, roller guides etc.
I ended up doing it myself, that means ordering a few special tools, camschaft locking tool and crank locking pin and a exhaust cam timing tool.
Most prices at dealers include all this.

no no... they have to be included... on a 3.0 you haved to remove the valve cover to lock the cams in place to do timing. I dunno wha a camshaft field is... but there are 4 small oil seals that need to be replaced as well.
every dealer is kinda different, but they did quote you incorrectly.
