Hello All,
My wife wants one of these Audi A3's probably a new 2010. Anyone out there buy an 2010 recently? Don't want to be crass, but what are these going for new after you beat down a salesperson? Feel free to send me a PM as well. thanks

I've had an 2010 A3 TDI on order since early October -- you probably won't get much of a break on the TDI version, as it's brand new & in high demand. I'm supposed to take delivery next week; I'll probably negotiate price/financing/trade-in later this week or early next, so I'll let you know.

The non-TDI versions are in somewhat less demand, so you could probably get a better deal.

I saw an S-line Titanium package TDI on the lot a few weeks ago. I wanted it soooo bad. Good news if you like AWD is now you can get a 2.0t with it and not just a 6cyl. Chipped a 2.0 turbo with AWD will put a beat down on many a car. AWE makes a turbo kit to put you over 300hp as well. Not sure if your wife would care about that.

Tried to talk my wife into one for utility over the A4 but i did not win that battle.

Geek, you are correct. We spent the day at the Audi dealer the other day and she ended up buying a 2010 TDI and didn't get much off. This one is the basic model with nothing much on it, (panoramic sunroof, and a few extras) Your money doesn't go very far with these cars as far as features go. This one does not have the "winter package", which is not the correct name for the package, (heated seats, heated wiper nozzels, heated mirrors and I think rain sensing wipers). Would have been nice to have that package with Navigation, (an extra 2K), backup sensors, folding mirrors, electronic rear view mirror, power seat for the passenger, ect., ect.
My wife's Jetta was in pretty bad shape at 140K, tip trans was shot and much more, so I think she felt desperate and had no patience for holding out for a nicer version of the car. I'm hoping this car improves my opinion about the reliability and longevity of this brand, we'll see. The good thing is, the car problem has been solved.

A very pleasant surprise with my A3 has been the modest insurance cost. My 2006 2.0T increased our monthly insurance bill by only $5 compared to the preceding 1993 BMW 325i. We "station wagon" drivers are obviously a relatively careful bunch.

I couldn't deal with the Houston dealers, they were pushing the A4. And yea, my agent said the A3 was a safe car and that "station wagons" get in less accidents. When he saw it, he said it was a pretty sharp looking wagon.
