TT Questions - Looking to buy

Hey guys. My mom is currently looking to buy a used TT Coupe as a weekend car. She doesn't need something with less than 40k miles really and her price range is about $18-20k. She also likes the idea of all wheel drive.

I've been trying to find information on the different models. I don't know much about them except that there's a 180hp, a 225hp, and a 250hp model. I want to find her something semi-fast, so the 225 or 250 sound like a good plan. Can anyone point me in the direction of a sticky that tells the differences or tell me the differences between all the models?

I'll probably have many more questions, but these are the ones I'll start off with I guess. Thanks for the help everyone! I'm looking forward to learning a lot about this car.

Thanks,
Buddy

Oh yeh, and I would also like to know if I'm going to start having problems with this car at 70k miles or if it will hold up.

Are there any major problems? Transmission, tire feathering, blah blah blah...?

the difference between them all is the 180 and the 225hp models are turbocharged 1.8 motors pretty rebilble been around for a while lots of upgrades if you get bored the 250hp is a 3.2VR6 motor pretty much it is N/A motor with a DSG tranny which means it is a standard tranny but without a clutch and a paddle shift I've drivin them all and I love my 5spds but with this paddle shift I did not miss it lots of power but you will not find one in the price range you are looking for as they just came out with the 3.2 in 2004 also differences between the 180hp and 2325hp the 180hp is a 5spd as the 225hp is a 6spd

The above post is correct. But, I also do not believe that the 180 comes with Quattro. I believe that is only an option on the 225 and 250. You will probably be able to get a 01 225 for 20 or so depending on what exactly you are looking for. I believe the 225 only comes in a stick shift....so, if she is looking for an auto, she would have to go with a 180 or 250. I am not sure if this helped at all, but I hope it comes in a little handy!

the 180 hp TT does come in a quattro thats what i have, i bought mine about a month ago now as for an idea on prices it all depends. mine is a 2001 and it had 46000 miles when i bought it for around $19000. but i had been searching for one for a while. i know of a couple 225hp TTs in my area one blue and one silver for around $20000 i think they are both 2001s "but i dont know what kind of mileage the have" if that gives u any idea on pricing

Hello, my husband and I have a 2001 Audi TT 1.8L Roadster that we are looking to either re-lease or sell. We are expecting our first child, and we would rather not have a car payment (and a somewhat impractical car!) If you are interested, please email me at lolacope09@yahoo.com.

Thanks,

Laura

The newer 180 models do not come in quattro, only FWD The earlier models, up to maybe 2002 were offered in a quattro 180 model.
